The Golden Retriever and German Sheppard come in as the second and third most popular dog breeds. The most popular breeds are highly intelligent medium to large sized dogs.
The Labrador Retriever is believed to have come from Newfoundland where fishermen recognized the breed’s quick retrieving and swimming skills.
As much as we love this popular dog breed, if you are looking to pick up your own pet, think twice about a purebred and remember that between six and eight million dogs and cats enter U.S. shelters every year, and three to four million of these animals are euthanized because there are not enough homes for them.

i have two labs. they are the most adorable things! it is sad that dogs get left on the streets, but there is nothing that other people who care can do. if a dog is left on the street, i dont think that somebody would want to pick it up and take it in as their own. especially since the dog might have a disease. i mean, you can take it into a vets office, but if there is something worng with it, the majority of the US wouldnt want it. its hard to know that millions of dogs are put down even yearly.
ps- this is random, but if you like to rad books about dogs, you should read Malrey and Me. it made me cry, and it is a true story about life and love with the world’s worst dog! its really cute. i highly recommend it.

I have 6 dogs and 4 cats. Not to mention the 3 birds and 3 guinea pigs. I truly love animals and all the ones I have acquired in the past few years have all been off petfinder.com or craigslist.org. My latest was a purebreed bullmastiff from a local animal control facility. Please consider adopting, the animals show their gratitude ten times over with the love they share!

I think Golden Retreivers should be the worlds most popular dogs. They are very intelligent and they become VERY VERY VERY good companions with pepole who are blind or who are disabled. They help pepole in nursing homes to make them feel like they have a friend. The reason I say this is because I have a Golden Retreiver and he is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY SMART.He has became very close to me and he is my close companion and no matter what you say he will always be number one to me.Also no matter what happens he will always be in my HEART FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FOR LISENING!!!!!!
